Dyson Hairdryer Launch 2016

If you've been waiting for a product that will change the way you style your hair, the wait is over. After numerous awards for their brilliant (and innovative) home appliance designs, Dyson has finally taken the next logical step: hair care.

They had already developed a lot of the necessary technology, but that didn't stop the British company from pouring $71 million into research and product testing. The redesigned hairdryer has some functionalities that are brand new:

  • Temperature's measured every 20 seconds to prevent additional heat damage to hair
  • High-velocity air flow makes sure that hair is dried as quickly as possible
  • While hairdryers have historically been produced with the motor in the back, the Dyson has put the motor in the handle, making it easier to hold
  • The attachments (smoother and diffuser) attach magnetically as opposed to the standard twist-and-click method

The beauty world is buzzing over this new product, and for good reason. The household hairdryer (a tool most of us use almost every day) hasn't had a major redesign since its launch in 1920. The bad news is that this revolutionary new dryer doesn't come cheap. When it finally arrives in North America this September, you'll have to shell out a cool $500 to get your hands on one. The good news is that the $500 dryer is already backed by a few megawatt celebrity stylists (Hollywood's Jen Atkin, Toronto's Matthew Collins and Britain's Akin Konizi) so it's pretty much guaranteed to be worth the hefty price tag.
