In my experience, it is about
80% diet and 20% exercise. Trust me it works. FInd foods that manage your blood sugar levels and you will curbe your hunger.

I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks reaching my goal weight and have maintained the weight ever since, about 5 months.

I prefer exercise, but diet is also very important to weight loss and management. To be healthy, I find I need to give my body the proper fuel first.

Exercise is so easy in comparison to diet. Ugh!

Healthy eating habits and daily exercise is the best thing. I have been doing it for almost 2 weeks now and I feel great. I have always had a healthy diet but stopped working out and I did gain a few pounds so exercise is just as important as a healthy diet.

Eat less, but eat what you NEED... don't stuff yourself~ the more active you are, the more food you'll need for energy... do some regular cardio to get your metabolism going~

Eat less but more frequently and still maintain a healthy exercise routine!

A balanced mix of both. Don't starve yourself, don't over work out.

I prefer working out but a few small changes in diet can make a big difference. For example, instead of drinking a lot of juice, drink flavoured water. Theres a book "Eat This, Not That" and with a few of those changes recommended in the book, you can lose a lot of weight and eat a lot healthier.

I am so bored with eating well... I lost a lot of weight by eating better. I didn't do much exercise, I know it's a pale excuse, but I don't have time to do that! So I think eating better and stop drinking juices, soft drinks and alcohol, is a good start.

Its not about eating less all of the time, you should be eating more of what you NEED and not all of the things that you are used to having. If you have kids, try not to "clean their plates," or give in to the temptations of their lunch snacks. Healthy food is one of the first steps. A constant and steady exercise routine is very important, we all know that cardio is easier, but try something hard, just remember if it doesnt hurt then there really isnt a point in doing it. Another thing you can do to motivate yourself is to put a picture of yourself in the fridge or in the cupboard, so when you have those temptations, you can be reminded of what you are working against. Try to avoid stress, drink plenty of water, and look up new recipes that are healthy but alot better! ( if you are eating it your family should too as long as you dont complain about it yourself, they shouldnt mind. ) Good luck to everyone! stay motivated!

I eat a healthy diet to begin with and I only have junk food when there is company or I'm out on the town with my friends. But if I'm on a diet to lose weight then I watch what I eat when I'm out and I make sure that there are healthy alternatives for my guests. I tend to cut calories when I want to lose weight. I drink a lot of liquids to keep my self hydrated and full between meals. I don't drink sugar filled drinks like coca cola or other sodas. I make my own lemonade with splenda, I freshly squeeze orange juice for breakfast and I pack my lunch when I have to go to work. I plan my meals in advance and I make sure to get my daily recommended nutrition. I live in a big city so there is a lot of walking. I walk about 70% of the day. I don't usually exercise but, I do 50 sit-ups twice a day, everyday except Sunday. I occasionally go to yoga and other recreations but usually depending on how I feel. I don't have a routine for exercise I just eat healthy and walk a lot. That's what works for me.

don't starve yourself, but dont eat a ton. eat healthy food, along with daily exercise, and you will be a healthier person.

You don't have to chose between less food and more excerise. All you have to do is eat fairly healthy and excerise. Have an equal balance between the two. Instead of starving yourself or excerising everydayy, all dayy!!!

Eating right is so hard and when I eat crappy I feel bad for myself and dont feel like exercising, and then I feel bad for not exercising and eat something I know I shouldnt... Its like a very vicious circle!

I have been trying to lose weight for ever!! i Cut back eating crap like chips/cookies and all that. Switched my bread to Whole Grain, my milk to skim and eat only lean meat (like chicken/pork no fat/no bone/no skin) and yet I still cannot lose the weight. I work out (treadmill 30 min / day & walk my dogs, do some ab roller, thigh master , elipitcal) WHAT IS WRONG ? Any ideas would be most helpful!!! What else can I do to change my diet?

Alison3 have you gone to your family doctor to get blood work done. Sometimes it could have something to do with your creatine levels or blood sugar levels. If any of these are not in normal range they can defiently prevent weight loss. OR you could be at your target weight. Sometimes your body just does not want to fluctuate anymore. Last but not least you may just have to switch up your exersize and diet. Believe it or not sometimes when you eat SOME junk once a week it challenges your body to work harder to burn it off, this will speed up your metabolism. With exersice make sure you are lifting weights ( this is just as if not more important that cardio) lifting weights allows your metabolism to always be working even when your doing nothing, other days goto a group class or for a swim just to challange your body and its different muscles.

Alright ladies! 80% diet & 20% exercise...yes! But please remember to hop off those cardio machines you lil' cardio bunnies...lift some weights already! Females must stop fearing "the bulk"...YOU WILL -NOT- bulk...we do not have the hormones available to bulk up...the ladies you see who are "bulky" are taking supplements and enhancers to make their bodies that way...
So...I challenge each of you to mosey on over to the weight training area of your gym or bring home a couple dumbbells and do some lifting...mix that in with some cardio and a great diet and you'll see results!

im scared that i'll become diabetic because im over weight. the bad thing is that I work in front of a computer for a minimum of 14hrs daily as an animator and compositor. what can I do to help in any way if getting to the gym is nearly impossible if wanting to maintain a good sleeping habit? I am not expecting fast results just a solution.

I never gained wieght in my life but from last 1 and half year i gained some fat on my tummy area, the reason behind that is the change in life style when i migrated to Canada. 9-5 sitting in office and eating junk food twice in week may be a reason. I dont get time to exercise and even cant controll my food habits.....

I have been eating healthy and I walk on the treadmill 30 min per day and I cannot lose any weight. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in all my joints and recently found out that i have it in 5 of the vertebrae in my neck so i was wondering what kind of exercises would be safe and effective. Doing treadmill all the time is so boring.

Eat less and exercise or gluttony and sloth as the government like to call it has nothing to do with weight loss. It's born in the belief that we can apply the laws of thermodynamics to human biochemistry and we can't.

'I have started going to the gym nearly everyday in order to punish myself for eating junkfood. I eat reasonably healthily so I don\x27t worry too much but I definitely think exercise is better because it releases endorphins which make you feel better and happy\x21'
