Consignment Heaven
Last year’s road trip to Chicago resulted in much learning: book a hotel before you go, a Ramone can show up anywhere, and all over the US of A, there are awesome consignment fashion boutiques where you can not only sell the clothes you don’t want, but you can find treasures in the form of other people’s cast-offs.
Last weekend’s walk in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood also provided another epiphany: though there are fewer consignment shops in Canada, they do exist. I happened upon a little shop called Common Sort (at 804 Queen St E) with a friend and we were pleasantly surprised. We both found two awesome pairs of shoes. There were also a lot of cute purses, dresses, pants and tops to be had for very reasonable prices.
No, there aren’t a lot of consignment shops in Canada, but here are some links to get you started. Check out these links for Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, Winnipeg and Montreal. If you have any stores you’d love to add below, please do! And check these tips for selling your used clothes.
