Photos: Converse Spring/Summer 2012 Preview
Earlier this week, I checked out a preview of the Converse spring/summer 2012 collection and I was delighted to discover a vast range of fun and funky styles that will definitely appeal to everyday fashionistas and sneaker pimps alike. Along with all of the classic colours, some of the new colours for this upcoming season include electric blue, canary yellow and a few muted options for those who prefer a more subdued colour palette. The styles and shapes found in this collection include the classic low and high tops, ballet flats, boat shoes, mesh walking shoes, flip flops, cut-away sandals, and many more.
For lovers of this iconic shoe that are looking to make a statement with their footwear, the traditional version of this sneaker gets a bit of drama added in the form of multiple tongues (five to be exact). This shoe is all about street cred and the wearer can't ever possibly get tongue tied (HA!).
Another exciting detail that is introduced in this collection is a double layered high top that folds down to reveal a separate colour way beneath which helps to give a pop of colour to any outfit. I can totally see these sneaks being paired with a skinny jean or a pair of leggings for an edgy, alternative look.
Converse is also known for their creative collaborations and you can look forward to seeing cool designs from John Varvatos, Jack Purcell, Marimekko, DC Comics and the music group Gorillaz. I LOVE the whimsy and graphic elements of the Marimekko, Gorillaz and DC Comics collaborations and in my book, you can't ever go wrong with bold prints and cartoon characters on your feet. I've also been a huge fan of the John Varvatos collections for the past few seasons and for spring, a double zipper is the new sexy detail introduced to this line.
