Loving Leona Lewis
I recently picked up Leona Lewis’ sophomore album, Echo, and I’m LOVING it!
Leona Lewis was the winner of the 3rd series of the British talent show The X Factor and her first album, Spirit, has sold millions of copies worldwide. Her huge hit Bleeding Love is an infectious love anthem that we've all had in our head at some point ("keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love...") and all of her other singles are equally as contagious.
Her new album is definitely more upbeat and edgier than her first album and we can see her growth as an artist in this disc. Leona Lewis has musically matured from the emotional ballad-driven sound of Spirit to the more contemporary and beat-driven sound of Echo. This time around she has included more pop oriented and guitar based tracks which help to showcase her dynamic vocal range and she proves that she is capable of so much more than just ballads. Top music industry record producers and songwriters were enlisted to work on Echo and the result is a cohesive sounding album that contains the perfect combination of R&B, pop rock and dance. It takes you on a journey from beginning to end and it only leaves you wanting more!
Although I’m loving every song on this album, the stand out tracks are: Happy (see video below), I Got You (see video below), Outta My Head, Naked, Alive, and Broken. If you liked her first album Spirit and you're searching for a fun pop album, then you’re going to love Echo!
