Newlywed, Nearly Dead?

Episode 3031: Eva and Mike

I'm sure you've all heard the saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Well, that was the problem with Mike and Eva's marriage. Mike was scared to say anything negative to Eva. He was extremely upset with Eva's spending habits, upset with the way she decorated their home, upset with her work ethic, upset with her whining, but he wouldn't say a thing. Instead, Mike kept quiet and lo and behold this caused even more problems.

Let me tell you why, first of all, instead of Mike talking to Eva directly about how he felt, he was talking to her indirectly through his actions; namely, farting and ignoring her calls. This passive/aggressive behaviour was doing nothing to help their relationship and was actually pushing them further and further apart.

The second problem was Mike was intent on swallowing his worries, pain, and fears. I actually found out that he had headaches and was taking a lot of antacids. I warned both him and Eva that he could be a prime candidate for an ulcer. His marital health was having a direct impact on his physical health.

And, last but not least, Mike wasn't treating Eva as an equal partner in the marriage. He was not being honest with her about how he felt and his resentment was building and building. Sure, these two are madly in love but snowballing bitterness can crush love in one fell swoop. Now, don't get me wrong, Eva was not without fault, but if Mike never told her what was wrong, how would she ever be able to fix it? Certainly she needed to address her excessive spending and demanding behaviour of Mike.

Thankfully, these two got on the same page almost immediately after seeing the evidence. I think they may still have little problems down the road, but as long as they keep the lines of communication open, I think they'll make it.

Yes, where can I get a pair as well? The hubby is like a gas station. I can't wait to see what other challenges Gary comes up with. Here's hoping for a fourth season.

You'll never get husbands to stop farting. We think it's funny. The louder and smellier, the better. Live with it ladies 'cause we ain't gonna change!
