Newlywed, Nearly Dead?

Episode 3041: Darla and Dale

Newlywed, Nearly Dead? host Gary Direnfeld shares his thoughts each week and so can you! Let us know what you think. Please note: Gary will not be monitoring these blogs and will not respond to questions.

Do Darla and Dale love each other? Yes. Do Darla and Dale annoy the hell out of each other? Yes, again!

Darla and Dale had a lot more peeves that didn’t even make the show: it bothered him when she dressed their dog in silly clothes; she thought he was too lenient training the dog; she resented the time he spent on the computer; he thought she was obsessed with getting pregnant. The cause of a lot of this grief was the amount of time they spent together. Dale and Darla spent almost every moment together and had little outside interests or hobbies. Simply put, there can be too much of a good thing.

One of the challenges that I gave them that you didn’t see on the show was changing some of their “We” time into “Me” time. Darla spent a night out with her girlfriends salsa dancing and Dale went to the cinema to watch a foreign film that Darla had no interest in. From the challenge, Dale and Darla realized that it was okay to have separate interests and that a little time apart was not going to kill their relationship, but might just make it stronger.

hate to admit that my finance makes me watch Slice, but I thought these two were hilarious. He certainly put the *&^% back in country!

When I saw this episode, I was very surprised to see that it's someone I know. I went to school with Darla. We didn't know each other THAT well, but we had a few conversations.
When I saw this episode, I didn't really think that some of the problems that were aired seemed to be that big a deal - you know, socks, cleaning, being grumpy in the morning...but I do get the point - it's the respect (or lack, thereof) that they were showing each other regarding these issues.
After reading Gary's blog about this episode, I wonder why they didn't talk about those issues on the show as well? (Well, maybe some of it was too personal for them to put on TV.)
But maybe I would have seen someone else I know when she went out dancing with her friends. That would have been neat.
