At The End Of My Leash

Brad's Blog - Episode 5063: Fighting Fire with Fire

Karen and Tyson, have the best intentions the best motivation and all the right ingredients for the dogs to want to kill one another.

This is truly do or die time for one of these dogs. Inter-dog aggression is not a dog aggression that should be ignored, let alone toyed with if the follow through is not strong enough. Dedication, invested time and effort will be a must for Karen and Tyson if there is any chance of success.

Certainly walking into the home to meet the two of them and the dogs was rather enjoyable. Both want to make a change and that's what I am here for: to make that change.

Rudy wanted nothing to do with the dogs and watching how the dogs respond to one another has red flags every where. I am concerned about all the dogs and the safety and well being. Separating the dogs into opposite homes was nerve racking.

Tyson was really enthusiastic and Karen wants to be successful so this powerful team will have long term success. Watching the two of them support and back each other up was so stellar. The best part was watching the dogs act like they can't walk on the log..... A big eye opener for the two of them and this was a small sign that meant much to these two.

If only more people would be like Tyson and Karen, the world would be a better place.

Cheers, Brad

was this the one with the little girl who had all the anxiety that her daddy would leave, because he wasn't married to her mother? I felt so bad for her. and it took Brad to re-establish this group of people as a "family" and make the little girl feel secure.
the dog issues were dealt with, but for me, the most important thing was that little girl coming to feel "safe" with her parents' relationship.
great work, Brad.

sorry, that was the previous episode.
this one was great too, especially the "flashy" ending.
Brad, how do you do all that? a helicopter for Ian, and the fire dept. for these 2. I'm constantly amazed at what you can pull off for your clients. they're lucky people to have you at their backs.

Hello, i have a 4 year old westie name Lily. She can be slightly dog aggressive epescially in the house and around her toys, treats and dog food. I find that she does better with smaller dogs or male dogs. There is really only one dog that my parents (my mom especially) trusts at all with Lily inside the house. This dog is a gorgeous 3-4 year old yellow lab named Ben. I think that this is because he is not all over her like more high-strung dog. But that is getting off topic. Our next-door neighbor got a black lab puppy named Manny about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. We knew that Lily would have to get along with this puppy or else it would make havoc whenever we walked past or if they ever got close. We have a screen door in our front porch so my twin sister and I decided to get them used to the idea of being neighbors. We introduced them through that screen many many times. And eventully we trusted them enough to mingle on leash and in our backyard together. They have been best buds ever since. Was this a good way to socialize Lily? Or would this build any bad habits? I dont believe it would and has worked very well for us and any dog appearing at our door. Although she is not perfect i think that she has improved muchly.
Brad, I thank you for your show series and i admire your teaching methods. I trained Lily with the Alpha attitude when we first got her but that is another story for another time. Thank you, Brad.

When I go for a walk with my dog he screams and barks when he sees another dog and wants to go over to see it. He makes so much noise that most people we see just want to keep on walking past us. Should he be muzzled to stop this behaviour?
