Turning off your phone for even five minutes can be scary, especially when many people believe that the key to getting ahead is being available 24/7. Ask any CEO and they'll tell you that unplugging, even if just for a day or a few hours, will give your brain a necessary break and make you more focused when you do plug back in. 

When surveyed, business professionals rank work/life balance at the very top of their list of priorities. Spending time with your family will not only take your mind off work for a while but it will also serve as a reminder of what it is you're working for. 

We could spend hours going through the benefits of regularly breaking a sweat but you already know this. Weekends are a great time to get your heart pumping whether you hit the gym or head outdoors to enjoy the scenery. It will not only improve your mood but also boost your energy and trim that waistline.

Believe it or not, many successful people skip out on doing the dirty work in their homes. After a hectic work week, spending a day elbow deep in a bucket of soapy water sucks. Bite the bullet, hire a house keeper and spend the weekend doing the things you like to do. 

When was the last time you hit the dance floor? Successful people know when to be reserved and when to just let loose and have fun. Take some time on the weekend to completely unwind and be carefree (even if it's back to the grind on Monday).

Feeding the stomach also feeds the soul. Spend the weekend getting your hands dirty and creating some tastely concoctions. This can be a great way to spend some time with the family and if you freeze some of your creations, it can take away the stress of planning meals during the week.

Dinner parties or backyard barbeques with friends or neighbours can be a great way to not only unwind, but also network. Successful people see every gathering as an opportunity to engage with others. You don't have to talk shop, but you can make some unexpected connections. 

Volunteering at a community outreach program or giving your time to a cause outside of your immediate job can be both fufilling and rewarding. Successful people have a good understanding of the balance between giving and taking.

Whether it's your next big move, a vacation or even setting goals for the upcoming year, successful people have always got a plan in mind of something they are working towards. 

Forty hour weeks are no longer the norm. If you're feeling extra exhausted after a long week, allow yourself a little extra rest and time to recharge your body. 

Take a vacation. Even the busiest CEOs make sure to take time to get away. If a major holiday sounds too daunting, hit an all-inclusive resort or plan a staycation to check out the latest attractions right at your door step.
