The Most Famous Celebrity Mistresses
Kristen Stewart emerged from hiding a week ago, one month after being caught cheating on Robert Pattinson (has it been that long already?). While rabid Twilight fandom makes their story all the more scandalous, KStew certainly isn’t alone. Here are six famous mistresses who crossed the marriage line for a little nookie.
The Damned: Kristen Stewart
Does anyone else feel sorry for Stewart? Pattinson automatically gets first dibs on the sympathy vote here, but she may as well have a scarlet A tattooed on her forehead. Stewart has always seemed uncomfortable with fame and can come across as awkward in interviews. I bet if you Google “sullen” and “Kristen Stewart” you’d find an abundance of hits, including this post. How long will this story follow her? The movie event of the year for millions – the end of the Twilight franchise in November – is fast approaching, so it’s unlikely that young KStew is going get any reprieve any time soon.
The Seldom Remembered: Claire Danes
Stewart should hire the same people that represent Claire Danes. In 2003, Danes met Billy Crudup on the set of their film Stage Beauty and the next thing we knew, he had left his girlfriend of eight years (the very awesome Mary Louise Parker who was seven months pregnant at the time). Can you imagine? Yet somehow the story didn’t go viral. Danes didn’t have much of a reputation for scandal, so maybe that’s why the mistress label never stuck. Danes and Crudup dated for four years and she’s now pregnant with her first child with husband Hugh Dancy.
The Why Did Anyone Care?: LeeAnn Rimes
Whenever I think of LeAnn Rimes, which admittedly isn’t very often, I have to remind myself that she was (is?) a singer. She seems to fall into the category of “famous for being famous” after meeting and cheating on a Lifetime movie set. The lucky lad? Eddie Cibrian. They were both married (he had two kids!) when they were caught having an affair. I have no idea why, but it jump-started their careers. Before the scandal, they were C-level celebs at best. Now, they’re married. Rimes gets press for her weight loss and bikini Twitter pics and they both get snapped by the paparazzi, just like real celebrities.
The Worst Kept Secret: Angelina Jolie
Even though they’ve always denied it, I think it’s safe to say that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt probably knocked cargo boots on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. When Angie said their six kids can watch the movie and see their parents falling in love, Jennifer Aniston said it was “uncool” and Anna Wintour put it on the cover of Vogue. Jennifer Aniston is now engaged to Justin Theroux (who will always be the guy with the amazing family who couldn’t get an erection on Sex and the City) and the Jolie-Pitts are also officially engaged. Who will marry first? I say they do it on the same day – how poetic!
The Lucrative: Tori Spelling
Tori Spelling was trucking along, doing random movies of the week when she met Dean McDermott, who was married to Canadian celeb Mary Jo Eustace (I use celeb lightly, we don’t really have much of a star system in English Canada, but she was more known here than her husband). They now have three kids with another on the way, several TV shows and business enterprises. Although it’s safe to say that no one could have predicted that the Spelling-McDermotts would be reality stars, there’s no denying their success. Catch Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood on Slice.
The Saviour: Sarah J. Symonds
While not necessarily a celebrity herself (yet!), Sarah Symonds made headlines in 2008 when she revealed she had been having an affair with Gordon Ramsay for seven years. After years of being "the other woman", Sarah decided to take her heartbreak and put it to good use. In her new reality show, The Mistress, Sarah helps other women leave the married men they're dating and find real love and true happiness.
Don't miss the premiere of The Mistress tonight at 8pm on Slice!
