Holiday 2021 Nail Trend: The Sparkly French Manicure

For many of my fellow divas, the holidays usually add another layer of expectation to your usual grooming routine. Don’t ask me why, but the hair, nail, lash, etc. appointments just hit different during the holidays. Maybe we all secretly feel the need to step it up in front of distant family to mask the fact our lives are hot messes. Maybe we just want to indulge in this festive time and imagine we’re the main character in a holiday rom com.

Whatever the psychology behind it, holiday self-maintenance comes with a lot of pressure, which is why we’re here to tell you to look no further because there’s only one nail trend that matters this holiday season: the sparkly French tip.

The sparkly French manicure will help you glitter all the way to the New Year

There is no denying the French manicure has made an incredible comeback over the last year. With more celebs rocking this look, we’ve seen a ton of unique and refreshed takes on this timeless design. What’s my favourite, you ask? Obviously, the glitter tip, as it screams luxury and I’m an expensive b*tch! I would argue the holidays are the perfect time to rock this nail trend, especially if you’re not one for going out of your mani comfort zone (I see all you OPI ‘Bubble Bath’ Queens out there).

If you open up TikTok, it seems like everyone and their uncle is rocking the sparkly French tip this holiday season. Just look at the legend herself, Miss Emily Mariko rocking a short silver sparkly French tip as she mashes up her lunchtime salmon bowl. Go off Emily!

One thing I love about the sparkly French is it’s both festive, yet neutral. You really get the best of both worlds. With this nail art, you will still look like you’re embracing the holidays without having to paint Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer across your nails (I respect if that’s your thing, my boring self could never).

Prioritize self-care — even as you deck those halls this holiday season

There is no doubt the holidays can be a very stressful time. The combination of family dynamics, financial pressure and you know, a global pandemic, is honestly a recipe for disaster. I’m here to give you the permission to disconnect (a privilege, I know) for a mere moment and treat yourself to some well-deserved self-care. Get up, right now, tell your boss something came up and go get a manicure. It will instantly make you feel better.

Seriously, if this strategy works for Elle Woods, it will work for you. Friendly reminder, if you do go out, remember to keep your mask on, sanitize and show your nail tech some serious love. If you’re not feeling comfy heading out for a manicure, there are luckily a ton of easy ways to achieve this look from the comfort of your own home.
