Golden Globes 2018: Why Was Everyone Wearing Black?
The Golden Globes are always a fun night for celebs. They're the first awards show of the year, filled with drinking and food and fashion. But the 2018 Golden Globes were very different as the women of Hollywood wore black in solidarity with the anti-harassment movement, Time's Up. This may have been the first time an awards show wasn't dominated by the fashion but, rather, a united force to be reckoned with. The females of the industry teamed up to send a message that it's time for sexual harassment and male-dominated workplaces to end, and they're ready to stand together and make that happen.
Sure, the fashion was beautiful, but there was nothing little about the LBDs. The red carpet may have went dark but that was just the dresses and suits. The stars shone bright but the Time's Up buzz they were a part of was even brighter. See which celebrities wore all black at the 2018 Golden Globes.

Kerry Washington
Strapless, sequined, and a slit that won't quit, but it's those booties I can't stop staring at. Kerry took to Instagram before the show to say: "#TIMESUP on the imbalance of power. Wondering #WhyWeWearBlack ?!?!?! Because we stand with YOU! We stand in solidarity. Together we can end harassment, discrimination & abuse. And create safety, inclusion, equity & parity! FOR ALL PEOPLE. ACROSS ALL INDUSTRIES. We are a women led campaign but we are standing for ALL marginalized people. STAND WITH US." -
Angelina Jolie
Flowing and feathery and freakin' awesome.
Speaking of Angie, she's just one of many famous women who make divorce look good. -
Viola Davis
Velvety and buttery, one of the smoothest women around. She shared this #TimesUp note on her Instagram: "Why I Wear Black Today: Because we are grateful to the many survivors and allies who have spoken out and forced the conversation about sexual harassment, sexual assault, and gender bias into the spotlight." -
Halle Berry
The lace minidress is a bit ice dancer but someone was going to do it. Why not Halle?

Kate Hudson
The sheer trend needs to die (we know you've seen all the celebrities in sheer outfits lately) but there's something captivating about the pattern that you can't ignore. Just ignore the granny panties. -
Allison Janney
She can literally do no wrong. Queen. And on her Instagram, she shared the #TimesUp note that reads: "Why I Wear Black Today: Because #TIMESUP on silence. Because #TIMESUP on waiting. Because #TIMESUP on discrimination. Because #TIMESUP on harassment. Because #TIMESUP on abuse." -

We will no longer live in the gaps between the stories. Not only are we now the story in print, we are writing the story ourselves." -
Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell took to Instagram to share a harrowing stat from the #TimesUp campaign: "In the last 10 years, only 4 per cent of the top-grossing directors were female. Only 7 of these directors were women of colour." In solidarity, she wore this black number. The columns, the pleating, the bow, it's all so stunning. -

And of course I had to quote my dear friend Lin Manuel Miranda and our favorite play, “this is not a moment, it’s a movement!” #TIMESUP #WhyWeWearBlack" -
Sarah Jessica Parker
The satin and tulle detailing of her cocktail dress is gorge but it's the fishnet capelet that makes it very Carrie Bradshaw. She too posted about the movement on Instagram, explaining: "Out the door and on my way. In support. In solidarity. It’s time to break the silence. Watch the @goldenglobes tonight to learn more about #WhyWeWearBlack. Or head to @timesupnow to learn more and join the movement. X, SJ" -
