After 50 Years, Barbie Finally Gets a Body Makeover
For years, the most famous doll in the world has been scrutinized for her unrealistic figure. There have been reports accusing Mattel of creating a body that wouldn't even survive as a human if Barbie were real. Her waist was too tiny to accommodate organs, and doctors swore she wouldn't be able to support her upper body based on the size of her legs and feet.
Well, after more than 50 years, it appears that Mattel has heard the world's complaints. They've re-imagined Barbie, and have come out with three brand-new body types: Tall, Petite, and Curvy. In addition to adding new body types, they've also added seven skin tones and 22 eye colours and 24 hairstyles.
Now, girls all over the world can find a Barbie that looks a little bit more like them (and a little more real).
