Oscar-winning actress and style icon Gwyneth Paltrow is always so well put-together. Her hair and makeup, both on and off the red carpet provide inspiration for all women who want to emulate the same kind of class and sophistication she does so effortlessly. Earlier this year, Gwyneth stepped out in a sleek bun that had pin-straight ends poking out at one side.

Follow these four steps to get her super-sleek bun:

1. Blow dry clean hair straight using a paddle brush ($26). Once dry, use a tail comb to part the hair dead in the centre.

2. Straighten hair using a flat iron ($220). Make sure the ends are poker-straight.

3. Warm a dime-sized amount of smoothing hair oil between your hands and smooth over hair. Try Kérastase Paris Elixir Ultime ($54). Tuck hair behind the ears and make sure to catch any flyaways. Gather hair at the nape of the neck and using a clear elastic secure into a ponytail. The tighter, the better!

4. Start twisting the ponytail in a clockwise direction right to the ends, smoothing as you go. Start coiling the hair around the base of the ponytail almost completely to the ends. Leave about an inch or two of the ends out at one side. Secure with U-shaped hair pins and spray all over with strong hold hairspray. Try L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray ($11).

Gwyneth’s bun is super sleek and super easy to do. With the ends poking out you'll have a classic bun with a fresh twist – perfect for any modern woman looking for a stylish new do.
