Ever hit by wanderlust?

Would you ever just pick up and take off for an extended leave, either as a student, for work, or just to travel?

Comments:

Totally! I'm in London right now doing my masters!!!

I think everybody feels that way sometimes, but as long as theres something that keeps you where you are, you end up staying

Oh yeah, totally. I sometimes feel like I need to be somewhere else and not where I am. Plus, I so want to see other places... :o

Dream of it all the time! Take me with you. Hard to pick up and leave in the midst of school career.

I have done this multiple times. I just don't think about sticking around.
Of course it does affect your personal life; you end up single alot...

I would in a heartbeat. Leaving things behind temporarily would allow me to clear my head and think things over.
The downside would be leaving my two best friends, and my boyfriend behind.

We just got back from over a year away, traveling the world! We quit the jobs and sold everything to do it, put the remainder in storage, and left. I would do it again in a second. Settling back into a routine has been difficult, though.

i try and stay in my home town and live like a normal person, but fall of every year i find myself selling all my belongings, putting everything in storage and taking off cross the country by myself...i get bored and lonely on the other side of the country and promise to myself i will come home and live my life normally, and then take off again. my life thus far has been extremely entertaining, and full of many good surprises

100% I would! I am always ready, regardless of what situation I am in.
Matty, get trained well in Toronto, but if i were you, eventually leave Canada, and head out to NYC, LA or Europe for creativity in hair and fashion. You will see how Toronto can be great for that field but you may find eventually, that Toronto can limit you as well. But that depends what your ultimate goal is for your future.

somehow staying in one place for too long gets to me and I feel the need to move or go somewhere else. i've moved around the city at least 5-6 times and i have a strong desire to leave the city within the next 2-3 years, but it's true - because i have gypsy feet- unless you find someone to travel with you, you often lose touch with friends and are single a lot.

Absolutely. It's my goal in life to travel the world as much as humanly possible. I've already lived in England for a year, travelling to Scotland, Norway, and Germany in the while. I've taken a roadtrip across Canada as well so that I can say I've travelled my own country... it is a vast one, and to say I've travelled the world and haven't even seen all of my own would seem wrong. The next trip is going to be to Cuba, and hopefully after that Australia...South Africa, Maylasia, the world!

As much as I dont mind other cultures I would feel afraid going to a country that does not speak English. Darn it I love cold play "para para paradise" back on topic. No I do not want to travel, I would not to eat a chicken and find out it was a dog because I dont know the language or in put into prison because Im visitng the wrong country. North america has been mostly great to me.
