Marni for H&M: Get Ready for the Collabo of the Year
Tick tock, tick tock. The clock is quickly winding down and it’s almost time for the Marni for H&M collection to hit stores nationwide on Thursday, March 8. I stopped by Trump International Tower and Hotel yesterday for the preview and was pleasantly surprised with their stylish offerings.
Versace for H&M brought customers over-the-top, hyper-sexy, more-is-more prints and designs. Lanvin for H&M gave shoppers ladylike elegance and lavish glamour. This year, the Marni collection taps into our wild, adventurous sides with womenswear, menswear, and accessories that offer classic, iconic Marni to the high street crowd.
At first glance the capsule collection looks like a hodgepodge of your grandma’s favourite prints and fabrics but upon closer inspection the method to the madness reveals itself. Bold West African-inspired wax block prints, shining metallic brocade and quirky stripes and polka dots are artfully turned into sheath dresses, cropped pants, voluminous midi and maxi skirts, loose summer-ready shorts, tailored dress shirts and fitted pencil skirts.

And the accessories. I N-E-E-D them all. Beautiful lacquered corsage-like necklaces, plastic and woven straw totes, chic Spartacus-esque metallic leather with rope sandals, chunky bracelets, sequined collars, printed silk scarves, and plastic petal drop earrings would all be the perfect finishing touches for an airy summer dress or classic jeans and a tee.
And there’s something for the boys too. Marni at H&M offers menswear staples with subtle (for Marni) prints and a utilitarian aesthetic. Chunky knits (but in the summer?), two-tone shirts, printed shorts, anoraks. In addition to menswear, Marni also offers accessories including bags that you may want to steal borrow from the bf.
Once again, H&M and its collaborators have created a collection worth lining up for. Will you be braving the crowds for Marni mania when the collection lands in H&M stores? Which pieces will you be buying?
