Get Thee to Rehab
Oh gosh, oh gosh. Yet another celebrity mum shows amazing parenting skills a la Lohan, Spears and Hilton. This time it’s British phenomenon Amy Winehouse’s mother. Instead of doing things the logical or normal way, like so many millions of moms have to do, Winehouse Senior took it upon herself to write an open letter to Amy via British tabloid News of the World. In her letter, she asks Amy to “pick up the phone.”
Let’s think about this for a moment. I know that if my mom wrote an embarrassing public letter about my personal life in a tabloid which everyone in the world would see, I’d definitely rush to give her a call. But would I do so if I were a whiny drugged-up pop singer? Probably not. After last month’s public coke debacle, Amy’s obviously struggling. But writing a letter in a tabloid? Seriously? No wonder she’s so messed up. Sigh. I hope when my kids are famous, I care more about their well-being than my own personal stardom.
