The Dog Blog: On A Stroll
First off, thanks to everyone for all your comments as of late. As I've confessed, I'm a dog lover but far from an expert. I do my best to provide a safe and happy home, but continue to work with my boxer to train her (and me) on many aspects of our co-existence.
With that being said, we seem to have had a breakthrough last week. For the first time, I took both the stroller with the baby and the dog for a walk simultaneously. Seems impossible I know, but mission accomplished.
It was a highly calculated move on my part; I waited until she was back from her long walk with the walker - while I get accustomed to life with a newborn she walks almost everyday with her pack at the local dog park - then we took to the streets. I stayed away from the local elementary school where the high volume of kids usually ramps up her energy and kept within a close distance to the house just in case she started acting up.
I can't honestly say it was picture perfect but Google managed to walk extremely well for about ninety percent of the walk. Basically up until the very end (about 100 feet from home) when a leaf blew across the street that she attempted to chase.
I had the stroller's 'safety leash' on my one wrist, Google's leash on another and was able to maneuver her until we made it home safe and sound. Granted, I haven't been out since but at least I could prove that it's definitely possible.
Anyone experienced double duty walking with success? Would love to hear any tips you may have...
