Recreate The Winning Wedding: Jessica

Jessica’s multi-cultural affair came out on top of a very tough competition! Here’s a closer look at her wedding day to help you create a winning wedding of your own!

CEREMONY
Jessica’s two ceremony wedding was certainly unique - it's a great way to incorporate both you and your fiance’s cultures. Jessica started with a traditional Hindu ceremony, which included beautiful mendhi, a gorgeous saari and even a groom on horseback. The bride then had a costume change into a traditional western gown, for a Western ceremony which incorporated elements of her Jewish background. Mazel Tov!
Splurge: Have two ceremonies, one which reflects both you and your fiance’s cultural heritage. Just make sure the ceremonies are short and sweet to avoid your guests sitting for hours. You can also follow Jessica’s example, and incorporate a traditional dress - who doesn’t love a costume change! And the best part is you know even the trickiest of in-laws will be appeased.
Save: Stick to one ceremony, but incorporate elements of both cultures. Smash the glass under a Mandip, or incorporate traditional cultural vows into your own. You’ll still keep those in-laws happy, and save a little bit of dough by only having one ceremony.

VENUE
Jessica was married at a beautiful golf course, which served double duty as a ceremony and reception site. The weather was gorgeous, and the bride took full advantage of this with her outdoor ceremony. But, she was smart enough to provide shelter from the sun under a tent, and had big fans cooling her guests.
Splurge: Invest in a tent or canopy for your ceremony site. No matter how short and sweet your ceremony is, guests will feel the burn if left outside! Also, make sure to provide electric fans to cool the guests, just make sure the noise doesn’t interfere with people hearing the ceremony.
Save: If you can’t afford the canopy, hand fans are a great and cheap way to cool your guests. You can go DIY and make your own. A great idea is to print your wedding program right onto the fans, so they do double duty! Also, booking one venue is a fantastic way to cut down costs, and also makes things easier for your guests. It’s a one stop shop!

DRESS
Jessica’s gorgeous wedding dress had a sweetheart neckline, fitted to just below the waist (we would say ‘just past the butt’ but that’s not very lady like!) with an explosion of ruffles. It was elegant, softly romantic and fit her perefectly! She also had a beautiful side swept up-do with blingy earrings and bracelet.
Splurge: Go for broke with a beautiful mermaid style gown! Ruffles are super hot right now, so you’ll be sure to find one. Don’t forget tailoring! Jessica’s dress fit her like a glove, so make sure to spend the extra on getting the right fit. Don’t forget the bling! Jessica added sparkle with her crystal drop earrings, crystal bracelet and hair accessory.
Save: Rental is going to be your best friend here! There are several boutiques all over Canada that offer wedding dress rental. Let them know you’re looking for a mermaid style dress with sweetheart neck and a ruffled bottom. You can also rent accessories, everything from bracelets to earrings to tiaras so you’ll be blingy to the max while still feeling thrifty.

OVERALL
Jessica’s wedding featured a beautiful purple, silver and white colour scheme. The amazing thing about these colours is that while being romantic and sultry, they transition easily from a summer to a winter wedding.
