Synopsis

Based on the hit A&E format, Intervention Canada, now in its second season on Slice™, is a one-hour documentary series that takes the viewer deep inside the roller coaster of addiction. From an Ontario family determined to rescue their daughter from a deadly fentanyl addiction to a Alberta family’s last-ditch effort to save a son from the ravages of alcohol, the series provides an unflinching glimpse at the horrifying reality of the life of an addict, as well as the gut-wrenching toll their addiction takes on their family and friends. With the help of interventionists Andrew Galloway, Maureen Brine, Joey Marcelli and Sue Donaldson, each episode culminates in a dramatic intervention where the subject must make a life-and-death decision – continue their descent to rock bottom alone, or accept the offer of a clear path to recovery in one of Canada’s top addiction treatment facilities.

Andrew Galloway

Andrew Galloway, a Substance Abuse and Behavioural Health Specialist in private practice, is an International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC). He won the Award of Academic Excellence after completing his Addiction Studies at McMaster University.

Maureen Brine

Maureen is a well known and respected Canadian psychotherapist, Addictions Counsellor, Interventionist, Consultant and Educator. She is also an Imago Relationship therapist who works with couples in recovery. She has been in successful private practices since 1985 in both Vancouver and Toronto.

Joey Marcelli

Joey is an Internationally Certified Level II Masters Interventionist and instructor and is a member in good standings with the National Association of Drug & Alcohol Interventionists. He is also a certified addictions specialist and has worked with all levels of addiction and behavioral issues.

Sue Donaldson

Sue is an Addictions Counsellor, Board Certified Interventionist, Coach, Trainer and Consultant. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 1996 and - as a counsellor in the public sector in addictions and mental health, and in private practice - has since helped thousands of people to recover.
