Caroline Rhea, stand-up comedian and actress, brings a fresh, smart and spontaneous approach to all of her work. In 1989, Caroline ventured to New York from her hometown of Montreal to start her career in stand-up comedy. She studied in the stand-up program at the New School of Social Research and trained at the comedy club, Catch a Rising Star. With nightly gigs at New York’s venerable clubs, Caroline’s status quickly grew and she became an integral part of the city’s comedy scene. For the last seventeen years, Caroline has continued to perform to sold-out audiences in top comedy clubs all over the world. Caroline’s career in television has spanned from sitcoms to talk shows to reality shows to comedic specials. She played Aunt Hilda on the WB’s hit sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” Caroline then went on to host her own syndicated daytime talk show called “The Caroline Rhea Show” and Season one of the NBC hit reality show “The Biggest Loser.” She is currently the voice of Linda Flynn on the hit Disney Channel show “Phineas and Ferb” and was recently seen in the Showtime standup special “Caroline Rhea and Friends.” A Montreal native, Caroline currently resides in New York and Los Angeles.
Canadian chef Gordon Bailey was introduced to the restaurant industry in his home province of Manitoba at the age of 14. As a dishwasher, he was enthralled by the high energy atmosphere of the kitchen. He continually climbed the ranks working in restaurants and private clubs in Winnipeg. Gordon's skill and competitive nature were the perfect ingredients for a successful career in regional, national, and international culinary competitions. At the age of 34, Gordon has a resume to be proud of: his time on PEI boasts the enviable titles of executive chef at the Inn at Bay Fortune, the Inn at Spry Point, the Inn at St. Peter’s; as well as launching Dayboat restaurant, which was recognized by EnRoute magazine as one of Canada’s "10 Best New Restaurants." After leaving Dayboat, he transformed the Confederation Court Mall’s Food Fare into the successfully popular Urban Eatery. Gordon’s business and creative energy is now dedicated to his Charlottetown restaurant, Lot 30. The restaurant industry is a demanding one and Gordon is always looking for new challenges. He has a natural and honed instinct for everything that is food, a talent that benefits all those around him.
Alexandria Pellegrino is a wedding cake artist with an extensive background in fine art and pastry. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design where she received her Fine Art Diploma for drawing and painting. Her love of art history took her to Italy where she studied art in Florence and sculpting in Bologna. Not surprisingly, during her stay in Italy, she developed an appreciation for food and upon her return to Canada, enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu’s Pastry Arts Program in Ottawa where she received her Pastry Arts Certificate. Alexandria was recently commissioned to design Nicole Ritchie’s wedding cake. She was also the first Canadian to win the gold medal in a competition on the Food Network in the United States. Alexandria’s latest venture is Cake Opera Co., a retail store in Toronto fronting more as a gallery than a traditional bakeshop, which she runs with her partner and pastry chef, Jessica Smith. Clients include: Nicole Richie, Vivica A. Fox, Monica Schnarre, Gillian Hormel, and the National Ballet of Canada.
Legendary Liverpool cake artist David MacCarfrae is usually seen creating masterpieces out of icing at his shop David Cakes of Distinction Liverpool, Merseyside, UK for royalty, the famous and the infamous. David attended Sacred Heart high school in Crosby where he was the first boy to study cookery - before it was part of standard school curriculum. He ignored the taunts believing that one day he would have his own shop and make cakes for the Royal Family and the world renown. David set up David Cakes of Distinction from a small converted back bedroom with support from the Enterprise Allowance Scheme, funded by Merseyside Development grants. From his success, David Cakes of Distinction Showroom was launched which now boasts over 250 designs on permanent display. David has created wedding cakes for many Royals including HRH Prince Edward and Miss Sophie Reece-Jones and HRH Prince Andrew and Miss Sarah Ferguson. He has also created cakes for numerous football (soccer) stars and was also once commissioned to create a £10,000 wedding cake for a high profile mystery client. David MacCarfrae now provides Master classes in cake design and decoration around the world.
