Last week, I met up with Emily Robison and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks to chat about their new country music side project, the Court Yard Hounds. Don't worry, the Chicks haven't disbanded, they're just on hiatus and we can expect new material from them soon. But in the meantime, Emily and Martie have joined together as the Court Yard Hounds to pursue another chapter in their music careers and to get back to their bluegrass roots.

Just the other night, I checked out an artist showcase featuring Sony Music’s latest hit recording artist, Ke$ha. You may have heard her on Flo Rida’s single Right Round or chances are you’ve recently been infected (or will be infected) by her hit single Tik Tok’s contagious lyrics and catchy hook (oh-wee-oh-oh-ohhh!). Ke$ha’s debut album premiered at number one on the Billboard charts and her poptastic sound is sure to keep her at the top of the charts.

I recently picked up Leona Lewis’ sophomore album, Echo, and I’m LOVING it! Leona Lewis was the winner of the 3rd series of the British talent show The X Factor and her first album, Spirit, has sold millions of copies worldwide. Her huge hit Bleeding Love is an infectious love anthem that we've all had in our head at some point ("keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love...") and all of her other singles are equally as contagious.

Rant #143: Please DO Stop the (Crap) Music

A sign of aging? Forget those wrinkles or the fact your knee cracks every time you stand up; for me it’s all about the music. I’ve been aware for some time that I might not be the target market for Muchmusic or any of the #1 hit music radio stations as I once was. My values and life experiences have certainly affected my taste in art and music meaning I don’t fall for the same old, 3 minute pop song that I used to.

This is Beyonce's video for her new single, Sweet Dreams. In this futuristic video, we get to escape into Beyonce's dreams where she rocks a number of HOT looks including a classic Thierry Mugler gold robotic space suit. I am loving all of the outfits in this video and Beyonce truly knows how to deliver a video that packs a punch.

I recently discovered an international pop music artist named BoA. Boa Kwon is a 22 year old South Korean pop singer that has sold millions of albums in Asia and she has been labelled the Britney Spears of Asia. She was discovered at a talent search at the age of 11 and after two years of intense vocal, dance and language training she released her first album at the age of 13. BoA, which stands for Beat of Angel, speaks Korean, Japanese and English and she has successfully conquered the South Korean and Japanese pop music markets and is now set on taking on the North American market.

Awards Shows = Crazy Celebrity Collaborations

If you can make it through the bad jokes and five hour-long telecasts, awards season can be an entertainment addict’s dream. There’s the fashion, the pre-show interviews and my favourite pastime, peeking at who’s taking their relationship public on the red carpet. Once you get past the preamble, some of the best collaborations are born on the stages of these extravagant events.
