Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous
A few months ago, I went for a fitness test with my old friend, Dave. Dave told me to quit drinking altogether and to start eating sweet potatoes and protein shakes. He said that if I really wanted to be healthy, I should eat to fuel my body instead of eating for pleasure. To that, I said, “Patooey!” And a few weeks later, I was so discouraged that I stopped working out altogether. Though I did heed his protein advice and started eating yogurt for breakfast – mostly because it’s delicious. Which shows, if you give me a delicious option, I’ll abide!
Then, a few weeks ago, I read about a fabulous new book: Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous. It was touted as a book that encourages you to eat delicious food and be healthy. I had to read it immediately. And it was wonderful! Author Esther Blum realizes that eating is a pleasure and it’s just not realistic to ban drinking and chocolate altogether. But Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous does break it down sensibly for us ladies who are watching our figures. If you want to know how many calories are in that margarita you’re drinking (over 500!) or if coffee really is good for you (it’s not), this is your book.
Not only does this book acknowledge that I need to have some Ben and Jerry’s when I break up, it also suggests delicious alternatives to my comfort foods. Pick it up and get gorgeous!! You can grab it online at amazon.ca.
