Make Your Own Summer Signature Cocktail

Was there ever a job that you wanted to try, maybe just for a day, or a little longer? I’ve always wanted to try bartending. For my sister’s birthday I got to give one of my "dream jobs" a try, not only by tending to the bar, but also by creating her signature cocktail The Jaded Pear.

Slice On the Street: Hosting a Summer Pool Party

We've talked about throwing a white party, a pilates party, even a simple pinata in a backyard party; but we haven't touched on the ageless fun of summer pool parties.

August Trend Report: International Fashion Hits the Runways

International influences in fashion are not new, however, this year there seems to be a resurgence of this trend in some of the Spring/Summer 2011 Ready To Wear (RTW) collections.

How to Throw Your Own Pilates Party!

I was strolling through Central Park last summer complaining about my need to work out more when I noticed a flyer for tanilaties: a workout that mixes pilates with the beauty of the great outdoors. I thought it was a fabulous idea! Getting tanned and toned in one go—what girl wouldn't love it?

Ask an Expert: Harold Melvin on Being Confident in Swimwear

Well ladies, here in New York we’re in the midst of a full on heat wave and I can’t think of anything else but lounging at the beach and frolicking in the surf. So I thought what better topic to discuss than swimsuits for every body type.

Trend Report: Bright Blocks of Colour For Summer

This summer a popular fashion trend is not only bright colours, but pairing them together. Gone are the days of avoiding clashing colours like pink & red, purple & red, or green with blue. Bright and bold is in!

A Summer Bridesmaid: How to Make it All Happen

If you're somewhere between the age of 25 to 35 you've likely stood in a wedding, will be standing in a wedding and attending multiple between the months of May and September. Not only could you be standing in multiple weddings and invited to more, on top of that you could be planning and trying to save for your own! My friends and I are in the thick of it now at ages 27/28. Currently this summer, I'm a bridesmaid in one wedding, attending four more and planning/saving for my own in April of 2012. It's a great and memorable time in our lives, but I don't just breeze through it. I am aware I need to be heavily organized this summer with my schedule so not to miss an event or forget another, and that I have to save for some things too. So... here's some of my advice/tips for making it through this busy wedding season with a smile, money in your pocket, and memories of good times:

Wedding Blog: 10 Things A Fall Bride Should Do During the Summer

I never imagined my wedding day as a little girl, nor gave any thought to being a bride. Those things belonged in that hazy future world of being "grown up." Now that I'm 33 and planning a fall wedding, I'm still not a gung-ho bride. Of course I want it to be fun and beautiful and romantic, but we're just not bothered by traditional details and are trying to stick to our relatively modest budget.

Wedding Blog: Tips for Outdoor Weddings

When it comes to planning for an outdoor wedding there are all sorts of extra things to take into consideration. Lucky for us, wedding planners Pamela Kelly and Maria Badian share these useful tips

Summer is wedding season!

How To Be A Bombshell This Summer: Q&A with Victoria's Secret Model Doutzen Kroes

When slice.ca heard that Victoria's Secret model Doutzen Kroes was in town on the Victoria's Secret Bombshell Summer Tour, we knew we had to meet the famous Angel and find out what does it really mean to be a "bombshell" and ask the new mom about any fitness tips...

Who's Ready for Summer?

You know when it's the dead of winter, and you suddenly remember the smell of freshly cut grass, the taste of watermelon, and the feeling of a warm sun on your face? Isn't it great that soon we won't need to rely on memory to enjoy those things? We can hardly wait!

slice.ca's Summer Shopping Lists

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what would you miss more: books or shopping? Impossible to choose, we say! At least you wouldn't miss summer because I'm assuming this to be a tropical island and this week we're celebrating our favourite season with lots of articles to help you make the most of this oh-so-short season.

Can't Wait for Summer!

We know it's not officially summer for a few weeks yet but we just can't wait! So we decided to just go ahead and declare that summer has begun.

Sunny Days Ahead!

Brace yourself: It wasn’t until my early twenties that I discovered I needed to wear sunscreen. Was I an idiot to think that I would never feel the effects of the sun? In a word: Yes. While I still manage to get some colour in the summertime, I would never go without sunscreen now because of the many health risks.

Bugger Off!

I’ve always spent most of my summer evenings outdoors – either at a patio, window shopping with friends, or playing sports. This summer is quite uncomfortable – whenever I spend any amount of time outside, I’m a delicacy for unsightly winged nuisances of the season to munch on.

My Not So Sporty Summer

I wasn’t planning on sitting on the sidelines this summer. I was supposed to play in an outdoor soccer league and my usual two slo-pitch teams. I was looking forward to a summer of sporty competition until something unexpected and painful happened. Now I just watch helplessly as my teammates run the soccer pitch.
