Slice On the Street: Hosting a Summer Pool Party

We've talked about throwing a white party, a pilates party, even a simple pinata in a backyard party; but we haven't touched on the ageless fun of summer pool parties.

Slice on the Street: What's Hiding In Your Closet?

For the past few years, ever since I lived in a condo, I tend to do a spring cleaning of my apartment. If I don't do a clean through of my storage, I at least do an overhaul of my wardrobe. I actually find I'll start to get antsy around the first week of April as I anticipate that time of year when you know it's warm enough to finally put your winter clothes in storage and bring out your spring/summer clothes.

Slice on the Street: Bridezillas! Do You Let Them Run Wild?

Some families develop tension over the wedding, whereas sometimes a bride will regret who they chose for a bridesmaid. There are many scenarios where things don't go as planned leading up to the big day. That's when a bride can turn from seemingly normal into a "bridezilla."

Slice on the Street - Ask a Guy: Dating Dealbreaker

We asked the ladies, now it's time to ask the fellas, what's your dating dealbreaker?

Slice on the Street: St. Paddy's Day Edition

What's your most memorable St. Patrick's Day story. March 17th - St. Patrick's Day. A day when the green beer starts flowing, Irish tunes a playing and people profess their allegiance to Ireland with hats and pins that say "Erin Go Bragh" or "Kiss Me, I'm Irish!" Even Chicago pays tribute to this celebratory day with their annual tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green. Whether you're Irish or not, St. Patrick's Day has to be one of the most celebrated days of the year. It brings out the good cheer in people, and in others sometimes the worst. Too much fun can lead to some memorable stories, for good or bad.

Slice on the Street: Vacation vs Staycation

With this popular month (March) for travelling upon us, I want to know which do you prefer and why, vacation or staycation?

Slice on the Street - Ask a Guy: Worst/Best Pick-Up Lines

I've heard many lines, some completely inappropriate and offensive as well. I wanted to know though from a guy if they actually use pick-up lines, or what are the best/worst ones they've heard and if they think they actually work! So I asked some random fellas I met on the street my burning questions - see the responses in the video below.

Slice on the Street: Would An All Cash Budget Work For You?

I wanted to know how many of us out there are willing to forgo all plastic and try a money jar system. Would an all-cash budget work for you? That is the question I proposed this week.

Slice on the Street: Should There Be a Real Housewives of Toronto?

They're the women you love to love and love to hate… the Real Housewives of OC, Atlanta, New Jersey and New York have taken real homes by storm. And as we've seen with successful reality TV shows in the United States, sometimes a Canadian version comes out and achieves similar success here in our homeland. So the thought crossed my mind one day, "why doesn't Canada have its own 'Real Housewives' show?"

Slice on the Street - Valentine's Day: Love it or Overrated?

With Valentine's Day less than a week away, you're either cringing at the thought and had enough red, pink and white already --- or you're getting excited about the weekend ahead and the chocolates and flowers that potentially await you.

Slice on the Street - Ask a Guy: Break Up Behaviour/Etiquette

Last week we talked about dating dealbreakers, things/habits or attitudes about someone you're dating you just won't tolerate. For some of us, these dealbreakers result in breaking up. And in our high-tech instant-messaging world, what's an acceptable form of communication for ending it?

Slice on the Street: What's Your Dating Dealbreaker?

Nose picking, bad breath, rudeness, arrogance, nail biting, spitting, etc. – these are just some traits or habits I've heard people are not willing to tolerate or put up with in a relationship. We call them "dating dealbreakers" -- something that is just a "no no" you won't put up with, something that would cause you not to date that person.

Slice on the Street: Pets - Love them or Hate them?

Season 6 of At the End of My Leash has started up (watch full episodes here) - and after watching the first episode I started to wonder about how many people take on a pet and regret it? Are there people out there who don't like pets?

Slice on the Street: Cosmetic Surgery or Exercise?

Nose job, breast lift, tummy tuck, liposuction, chin implants, fat injections… the list continues -- there are endless possibilities when it comes to cosmetic surgery and one's body.

Slice on the Street - Holiday Edition: New Year Resolutions

January 1, 2010 - a new year, a new decade! I am not one to usually make New Year resolutions. I don't know if I personally believe in making a resolution at one specific time during the year. It's never to late to start something new, turn a new leaf in your life or set a goal for yourself.

Slice on the Street - Holiday Edition: Plans for New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve celebrations - overrated? Each year my friends and I try and come up with what we think is a great idea for celebrating New Year's Eve.

Slice on the Street - Holiday Edition: Worst Shopping Experience

The holidays can be joyful, celebratory, peaceful and all things jolly and merry. They can also be stressful, a headache, monetarily and physically draining.

Slice on the Street: Ask a Guy - Chivalry on the First Date

When applying this to a first date, what does that mean? When I think of what it means to be chivalrous on the first date, I think of being courteous, opening doors, taking the other persons interests for the date into consideration, being respectful towards that person, paying for the meal, movie, etc. Some would call this "old-fashioned." Some may say it's not fair expecting one to pay the bill and not the other, that it takes away from the notion that we are all equal. So what is acceptable first-date etiquette today?

Slice on the Street: Ask a Guy - Where's My Ring?

We grow up reading and watching in movies about the fairytale-like man that falls in love right away and sweeps his bride-to-be off her feet. But it just doesn't work out that way for everyone. Marriage, getting engaged, when to get married, do you want to get married? Do you want the marriage and not the weddding? These can be easy or tough questions for couples to discuss. Some couples get married on a whim and others after a deccade of dating. Neither circumstance guarantees a divorce-free future. And if one person in the relationship wants to get married and the other doesn't... then what?

Slice on the Street at the One of a Kind Show

The holidays are upon us and some of you mayby haven't started your Christmas shopping yet and others may be scrambling to get it all done this week. A great place for finding unique gifts is at the One of a Kind Christmas Show that runs until December 6th... A little shopping aside, I also visited the One of a Kind Christmas Show for a special edition of Slice on the Street to find out from you, what's the most unique gift you've ever received?

Slice on the Street: Eating on Public Transit

Is eating on public transit acceptable or disgusting? That is the question I am asking fellow commuters this week. I wrote a blog of my thoughts on this before which you can read here. But, to reiterate my feelings on this, I for one am not a fan of eating hot meals and smelly, messy foods on public transit. However, others seem to disagree.

Slice on the Street: What's Your Hidden Talent?

Whether you can sing, dance, rub your belly and pat your head at the same time - there are many people out there who have hidden talents waiting to get out! It's hard to define a talent. To me though, a talent recognizes something that is unique to that person which not everyone can do or is good at. Not everyone is an amazing singer or dancer. Not everyone can do backwards flips with one hand. Some talents require skill and practice, but the talent needs to be there first then it's perfected by practice.

Slice on the Street: Ask a Guy - Expressing Emotions

Sending the little "kiss" lips emoticon, or sending an I(heart symbol)you, are some ways many of us express our emotions over instant messaging or emails. In my dating past, I've found it seems men find it easier to say they like me, miss me, or call me a pet name like "cutie" over IM and emails as opposed to in person or on the phone. I've had long, wonderfully expressive chats with men over IM and then when it came time to talk on the phone it was awkward, quick, short and to the point.

Slice on the Street: Your Best or Worst Dating Experience

The experience of going on a date, whether it's your first date with someone new or not, can be exciting and fun. Butterflies, anxiety, nervouseness, excitment, happiness - these are often the things we hope for when dating someone we like or plan on getting to like. Your date can be a success if all goes right...but it can also be a disaster.

Slice on the Street: What's your biggest fashion faux pas?

Whether it was shoulder pads, stirrup pants, acid wash jeans, perms, bell bottoms or belly tops - there are many items of clothing that have been "in fashion" at one time or another, some have even come back in fashion! We may have thought it looked great at the time, but then there's that moment years later when you see an old photo and say to yourself: "what was I wearing?"

Slice on the Street: Are you over the skinny jean?

Yours truly went took to the streets in Toronto to find out if the "skinny jean" trend is on the decline, or if it's here to stay. See the video below for what people had to say!

Toronto's LG Fashion Week 2009: What's the Biggest Splurge in Your Wardrobe?

You know when you see someone walking down the street wearing a designer purse or shoes and you think: "I love that! I wish I could afford to buy it." Maybe that person could afford it, maybe they couldn't. Maybe, it was just a splurge! To find out more on what fashionable items people have splurged on, yours truly took this question to the streets - see what people had to say in the video below.
